A Successful Earth Day 2010 Celebration

On Thursday,April 22nd Forest City held our first annual Earth Day event. Lots of fun and a lot of great information were experienced by all. The Department of Forestry brought various animal pelts to show the different species out in our woods. Outdoor Recreation had a lot of great information on spring and summer events for families to do. Kids of all ages had the opportunity to decorate their pot, plant their own flowers, fruits or vegetables and take them home to watch them grow (courtesy of Davey Tree). Natural resources and recycling handed out great information for resident to learn from. To top it off, everyone that attended was able to refresh themselves with ice cold lemonade and shredded BBQ pork from Famous Dave’s. Bowling for Shamrocks - an Official Hit!
Our March 13th Bowling for Shamrocks was a big success. Several families joined us to check their bowling averages or just to enjoy their families. There was a great competition between the children and their parents at bowling. Some of the kids got so into the St. Patrick’s Day mood, they made the green balloons on their wrists while bowling the new fashion statement. We were very excited about the turn out for this event. All our residents that attended received a free game of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and pop! A fun time was had by all! Don’t forget next months, essay or picture contest for Month of the Military Child!

BEE My Valentine Dance - February 2010

Thank you to all our resident's that came out for our BEE My Valentine Dance on Friday, 12 February 2010. We had a lot of fun with a live DJ, dancing, food and give-a-ways! We danced the Hokey Pokey, line dances, the Chicken Dance, the Conga Line and more! Kids of all ages, big and small came and had a GREAT Time! Keep a look out for next months event!

Fall Festival! Resident Appreciation Event September 19th 2009

On Saturday, September 19th, we held our annual Fall Festival where over 350+ residents came out to enjoy everything from a bouncy house to face painting. Kids of all ages feasted on Kettle Corn, hot dogs, burgers, chips and soda. A big “THANKS” to USAFA’s 1st Shirts for
grilling the burgers and hot dogs!!!

Wacky Banana Party! Resident Appreciation Event September 11th 2009
|
|
On Friday, September 11th, we held the Wacky Banana Party. We had 44 banana entries from a bride and groom to a butterfly. Lots of imagination and fun were put into these designs by the children. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place was awarded by popular vote. The "Mermaid Banana" won 1st place, "Einstein Banana" won 2nd place and "Emy Banana" won 3rd place. After the decorating and voting, everyone sat down and ate a big banana split. Thank you to all who participated!

Dough & Joe on the Go! Resident Appreciation Event September 1st 2009

We had a great time during September saying “Thank You” to our residents. Four events were planned to celebrate our residents who live on the Air Force Academy. To kick off "Resident Appreciation Month", on Tuesday, September 1st, we held "Dough & Joe on the Go" where we gave out free Starbucks coffee and donuts to our residents on their way to work to give them a great start to their day!

Back-To-School Supplies Give-a-Way August 2008

On August 7th, Forest City hosted the annual "Free Back to School Supplies Give-a-Way event at the Community Management Office from 3:00 to 5:00pm. We were excited to give out:
* Folders * Highlighters * Pencils * Pens
* Crayons * Colored Pencils * Erasers * Paper
* Spiral Notebooks and * Hand Sanitizer.
We had a lot of youth and their parents show up and take advantage of this fun event. In addition, two (2) backpacks and four (4) great lunch boxes chocked full of goodies were raffled off! Keep an eye out for our raffle winners, next time it could be YOU!

New Resident Welcome Reception July 2009
|
|
Forest City held a New Resident Welcome Reception on July 30th in the newly updated Forest City Community Events Center located next to the Housing Management Office. Our residents who moved in between May and July enjoyed mingling and getting to know each other, the Air Force Academy Command, and Forest City Management. In addition, they learned about important items such as Community Management Office Hours of Operation, Maintenance & Service Calls, Upcoming Resident Events, and our Annual CEL Survey. Thanks to everyone who attended and we look forward to seeing our next group of new residents at the next event. Stay tuned for more details!

Keeping It Cool July 2009

Our community children were waiting exitedly for "Danny" the ice cream man to come down their block and deliver a sweet treat! On July 17th, Forest City sponsored the "Keeping it Cool with Forest City" Resident Ice Cream event.
